Urbanisation and modern life have detached us from our food. By 2030, 60% of the world’s population will be living in cities.
FOODOCOPY is a concept automatic indoor food planting unit, designed to fit in compact environments like apartments.
This product had to be designed in a way so that it could easily be fitted in a small to medium kitchen. It had to look like a home appliance so that it could sit naturally alongside a fridge or a dishwasher. It also had to be modular so the user could buy and install extra modules.
So I had to design the middle module to be extendable. For maximum space efficiency the doors had to be opened and closed electronically with the push of a button so they’d go all the way & provide
maximum space for the user to maneuver & access inside the modules.
The electronics, motors, water and fertilizer reservoirs should be fitted in the master module (head module). Each module should have LED lighting and irrigation pipes that connect to other modules upon installment.
The device should be controllable with the touch LED panel on the head module and also with a mobile app.
